The Haldimand Archaeological Research Project
The Haldimand Archaeological Project is intended to survey lands in Haldimand County that may hold clues to the first people who settled in the region of the county shortly after global temperature increases resulted in the retreat of the Laurentide Ice Sheet from southern Ontario.
There is an interest by the general public to know when and how diffusions of people took place and where the first people originated.
Archaeologists hope their effort to piece together this information over time will result in a new growth of interest to support and continue the interest to learn more about the people who lived on this land nearly 10,000 years ago.
Mission Statement
A partnership of trained archaeologists and community residents designed to explore, study, and share the archaeological heritage of Haldimand County.
